The thirteen digit numeric code, NSN, identifies all the standardized material items of supply's that have been recognized by all the North Atlantic Treaty Organization countries including Untied States Department of Defense. The first two digits of the NSN numeric code is referred to as the Federal Supply Group, the first four as the Federal Supply Code and the reaming nine digits of the NSN is referred to as the National Item Identification Number.
