Airbus Partners With Etihad Airways Engineering For New A380 MRO Services in UAE
Airbus has just announced that they have just partnered with Etihad Airways Engineering to develop a new MRO solution to maintain, repair and overhaul A380 aircrafts worldwide. The program will be set up in Abu Dhabi, UAE as part of the new MoU (memorandum of understanding) in support of the airlines using the A380 fleets. The partnership will kick in next year and will allow A380 operators to handle heavy maintenance checks as well as perform upgrades to their fleet all under one roof.
Satair Group will provide the consumable and expendable parts as the primary Airbus inventory management subsidiary which will be required for the upgrades and heavy checks on-site. Etihad Airways Engineering recently provided MRO services and delivered the first A280 heavy maintenance C-check complete with a cabin medication service to the Middle East. Located near Abu Dhabi International Airport is an aircraft MRO facility owned and operated by Etihad Airways Engineering. Just last month a joint venture between Airbus and SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) in Singapore was formed and named Heavy Maintenance Singapore (HMS) Services which would be completely functional by next month. Airbus has delivered over 16,000 aircrafts worldwide to customers and has manufactured aircrafts with more than 600 seats.
