Speculation Between Boeing & Singapore Airlines to Provide 39 Wide-Body Aircraft

Boeing and Singapore Airlines are have outlined an agreement for a new renovation to the Singapore airline aircrafts. A total of 30 aircrafts have been proposed to be able to replace the existing fleet consisting of different types of Boeing aircraft parts and models such as the (20) 777-9 and the (19) 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft. Also including six different types of aircraft model options that Boeing can provide which will increase the number of total aircrafts provided if agreed upon. The intended agreement also consists of being able to swap out the 787-10 aircrafts for different types of models of the 787 group. The entire transaction is estimated to cost and approximated 13.8 billion US dollars.

Not only will this benefit both parties but will be most valuable to Singapore Airlines as they intend to renovate their aircrafts to help them revitalize their airlines for the upcoming decade. Very eager to be able to receive the intended aircrafts Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong states,” Todays major order for widebody aircraft enables us to continue operating a modern and fuel- efficient fleet, providing the SIA Group with additional expansion opportunities to ensure that we retain our industry- leading position.” They are determined to better the airlines by any means possible by continuing to invest into future of the Airlines.

General Electric is being imposed with the responsibility of providing their GE9X engines for the 777-9s aircraft models that are going to be used for long routes. With help of Rolls Royce that will be providing their 1000 engine to be able to get the 787-10s up and running to service their medium distance routes.

This recent letter of intent is an addition to their previous agreement that consisted of (30) 787-10 Dreamliners that were placed in the year 2013.
